Maghe Sankranti is an auspicious festival celebrated on the 1st of Magh and signifies the beginning of the harvest season. Festivals in Nepal have a deep cultural significance as it always brings together families for a good meal. Also, each festival has their own special food. Maghe Sankhranti specials include Ghiu, Chaaku, Tarul and Teel ko Laddoo.

And today (as the title suggests),we’ll be teaching you how to prepare Teel ko Laddoo. It is simply a mixture of Sesame Seeds and Jaggery (Chaaku).

Ingredients
  1. Brown Sesame (teel) seeds - 4 cups
  2. Water - Half cup
  3. Jaggery (Chaaku) - Half cup
  4. Ghee –1 tablespoon
Instructions
  1. Heat a broad non-stick pan, add the sesame seeds and dry roast on a slow flame for 8 minutes, while stirring continuously.
  2. In another non-stick pan, heat the ghee and add the jaggery.
  3. Mix well and cook on a very slow flame for 4 minutes, while stirring continuously.
  4. Add the sesame seeds, mix well and cook on a slow flame for 1 minute, while stirring continuously.
  5. Transfer the mixture into a greased plate and allow it cool slightly for 1 to 2 minutes.
  6. Wet your palms with little water, take a small portion of the mixture and shape into a round.
  7. Allow it to cool completely and store in an air-tight container
